We'll beat any like-for-like quote by $300
Bring us a cheaper like-for-like quote and we'll beat it by $300. If we can't, we'll give you a $200 Prezzee card.
The longer version
We say we're New Zealand's best-value solar installer, so we'll back it properly. Get a written quote from another New Zealand installer for the same system, the same gear and the same scope of work. If it's cheaper than ours, we won't just match it, we'll come in $300 under it. And if we genuinely can't, we'll send you a $200 Prezzee card for wasting your time. Terms apply.
A worked example
| Price | |
|---|---|
| Our quote | $12,990 |
| Your competing like-for-like quote | $12,500 |
| What you pay us | $12,200 |
Price-beat guarantee terms and conditions
1. The guarantee
1.1 If you obtain a written quote from another installer for a like-for-like residential solar installation at the same property, at a lower total installed price than our quote, we will beat that price by $300. Your price will be the competing quoted price less $300.
1.2 If we are unable or unwilling to do so, we will issue you a $200 Prezzee digital gift card, subject to clause 6.
1.3 This guarantee applies to residential installations only. Commercial installations are excluded, because commercial scope varies too widely for a meaningful like-for-like comparison.
1.4 The guarantee applies before you accept our quote. It is not a post-installation price match and no refund of the difference is available after installation.
2. What counts as a valid competing quote
To be eligible, the competing quote must be all of the following:
- 2.1 In writing, dated, and issued to you personally by the competing installer. Verbal quotes, advertised prices, screenshots without a verifiable source, and online price estimators are not accepted.
- 2.2 For the same property and the same address as our quote.
- 2.3 Current, meaning dated within 14 days of the date you present it to us, and still open for acceptance.
- 2.4 From a New Zealand based installer that is actively trading, GST registered, and a member of SEANZ (Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand) or holds equivalent industry accreditation, with the electrical work to be performed by an EWRB-registered electrician.
- 2.5 Genuinely available to you, meaning you could accept it and proceed on those terms.
- 2.6 Presented to us before you accept our quote or pay any deposit. Claims made after you have accepted our quote, or after installation, cannot be considered.
3. What “like-for-like” means
A competing quote is like-for-like only if it matches our quote on all of the following:
| Element | Must match |
|---|---|
| System size | Same total panel capacity in kW, within 5% |
| Panels | Same brand and model, or a panel of equivalent tier, efficiency and product warranty |
| Inverter | Same brand and model, or an inverter of equivalent type and warranty |
| Battery | If quoted, same usable capacity in kWh and equivalent chemistry, warranty and cycle life |
| Mounting and racking | Equivalent specification, including coastal corrosion rating where the property requires it |
| Scope of work | Includes everything ours does: scaffolding and site safety, switchboard or meter board upgrades, network connection application, grid connection, cabling, monitoring, waste removal and travel |
| Warranties | Equivalent product, performance and workmanship warranty periods |
| Compliance | Installed to AS/NZS 5033 and AS/NZS 4777.2, by an EWRB-registered electrician |
3.1 “Total installed price” means the full price payable to complete the installation, including GST, and including every cost necessary to make the system operational. A quote that excludes an item our quote includes is not like-for-like.
3.2 Where the competing quote omits a required item, we may either treat it as not like-for-like, or add the reasonable cost of that item to the competing price for comparison purposes. We will tell you which we have done and why.
3.3 We will explain our assessment in writing. If we conclude a quote is not like-for-like, we will identify the specific differences.
4. Exclusions
This guarantee does not apply to:
- 4.1 Clearance, ex-demonstration, second-hand, refurbished, damaged or discontinued equipment.
- 4.2 Group-buy, bulk-purchase, community scheme, staff, trade-only, wholesale or membership pricing.
- 4.3 Prices conditional on the purchase of other goods or services, or on finance, insurance or an electricity plan being taken with the installer or an associated party.
- 4.4 Quotes that include the value of a government subsidy, rebate, incentive or scheme that we are not equally able to apply.
- 4.5 Quotes from a business in liquidation, receivership or administration, or advertising a closing-down or ceasing-trading sale.
- 4.6 Obvious pricing errors or misprints.
- 4.7 Quotes that are not commercially genuine, including quotes we reasonably believe were obtained for the purpose of claiming under this guarantee rather than to purchase.
- 4.8 Any installation outside our published service areas.
- 4.9 Commercial, industrial, rural-commercial and multi-unit development installations.
5. How to claim
5.1 Send the competing written quote to hello@solar.co.nz, or give it to your consultant, before you accept our quote.
5.2 We will assess it and respond within 5 business days.
5.3 We may contact the competing installer to verify the quote is genuine and current. By making a claim you consent to us doing so.
5.4 We will then either issue you a revised quote at $300 below the competing price, or confirm in writing that we are unable to do so and issue the Prezzee card.
6. The $200 Prezzee card
6.1 The card is a $200 Prezzee digital gift card, issued electronically to the email address on your quote.
6.2 It will be issued within 10 business days of us confirming we cannot beat the competing price.
6.3 One card per property, per household and per person, whichever is most restrictive, regardless of the number of quotes obtained or claims made.
6.4 The card is not redeemable for cash and is not transferable. Prezzee's own terms and expiry conditions apply to the card once issued.
6.5 The card will not be issued where:
- the competing quote does not meet clauses 2, 3 or 4;
- the claim is made after you have accepted our quote or paid a deposit;
- you have already received a card under this guarantee;
- we reasonably believe the claim is not made in good faith.
6.6 Receiving the card does not oblige you to purchase from us, and does not oblige us to install at the competing price.
