Terms of use
These terms cover your use of this website. Prices published here are indicative and are not a formal quote or an offer — your quote is the number that counts. Savings and payback figures are estimates that depend on your property. Nothing on this page limits your rights as a consumer under New Zealand law.

1. Who we are
This website is operated by Solar.co.nz Ltd. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Solar.co.nz Ltd, and “you” means the person using the site.
2. Use of this website
You may use this site to find information about solar and to request a quote. By using it, you agree to these terms.
You agree not to use the site in a way that breaks the law, interferes with it or with anyone else's use of it, attempts to gain unauthorised access to any part of it, or extracts its content systematically for another purpose.
3. Quotes are not offers
The prices published on this site are indicative. They are not a formal quote, not an offer capable of acceptance, and not a contract.
A quote exists only when we give you a written quote for your specific property, and it is that document — not this website — that sets out what we will do and what it will cost. Indicative prices assume a standard installation and can change once we know your roof, your switchboard, your network and your usage.
4. Accuracy of information
We take care to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that everything on it is complete or free of error, and information can go out of date.
In particular, every figure we publish for annual savings, payback period, system output and generation is an ESTIMATE. It is modelled on typical conditions and it depends on your roof orientation and pitch, shading, your household's consumption pattern, your electricity plan and buy-back rate, and the weather. Your actual result will differ. Do not treat any figure on this site as a promise of what you will save.
5. Third party information
Some of what we describe belongs to other people: bank green-loan rates and criteria, lines company connection processes, government and political party policy, and industry standards.
We describe these for general information at the time of writing. They are set by those third parties, not by us, and they change without notice to us. Confirm anything that matters to your decision with the organisation concerned.
6. Intellectual property
The content of this site — text, images, graphics, layout and code — is owned by us or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may read it, and print or save a copy for your own use in considering solar for your property. You may not republish it, sell it, or use it commercially without our written permission.
7. Links to third party sites
This site links to other websites — regulators, registers, news sources and industry bodies — so you can verify things for yourself.
We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on the general information published on it — but read that alongside sections 9 and 10, which come first and which we do not attempt to limit.
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that cannot be contracted out of. Where you acquire goods or services from us as a consumer, those rights apply in full regardless of anything in these terms.
This section applies to the website. The terms of any installation we carry out for you are set out in your installation contract and your warranty documents, not here.
9. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
If you are a consumer within the meaning of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the guarantees in that Act apply to the goods and services we supply to you, and nothing in these terms limits or excludes them.
Where we supply goods or services to a business for business purposes, the parties may agree that the Act does not apply. Any such agreement is made in the installation contract, not on this website.
10. Fair Trading Act 1986
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes the application of the Fair Trading Act 1986.
We do not intend anything on this site to mislead or deceive you. Where a figure is an estimate we say so, where a price is indicative we say so, and where a claim depends on your circumstances we say that too. If you think something on this site is misleading, tell us and we will look at it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of this site.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version published here is the current one, and the date it took effect is shown at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Our price-beat guarantee has its own terms, and how we handle your personal information is set out separately.
Installation terms, warranty terms and payment terms are separate contractual documents. They are not covered by these website terms of use.
